The University of Georgia will host the 58th edition of the annual G-Day game this Saturday at 4pm at Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is at 4pm and it will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
First-year head coach Kirby Smart launched the #93kDay initiative in late January. At no time has there been a capacity crowd (92,746) on hand for the game. However, attendance figures are generally strong.
“If we get good weather, I’ll be a happy man,” said Smart earlier this week. “It’s a big sales day for us. Got a lot of recruits coming.”
As of Friday morning, the weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a temperature of 72 degrees. Fifteen mile per hour winds from the east-northeast could play a factor in the passing game. “The easiest thing in recruiting is when your fan base is united and everybody is pulling in the same direction,” said Smart while addressing a crowd during a men’s basketball game. “That’s what we need, that’s what we want, that’s what we expect. We want to get that done.”
The stadium will open at 1pm. It is important to know all seating in Sanford Stadium is general admission except for sections 135 & 136, Rows 1 – 25, sections 208 – 218 and sections 221, 225 – 226 The alumni football game will take place at 1:15pm.
At 2:45pm, the 2016 Georgia football team will commence for the Dawg Walk from Lumpkin Street while passing through the Tate Student Center parking lot.
At 3:45pm, rapper/actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges will perform.
Then, at 4pm the G-Day game will kick off. They will use a running clock and won’t have live kicks or punting situations.
