It’s Thursday Night Football, but college football style! Tonight in Tampa, Florida University of South Florida Bulls played against the Temple University Owls at Raymond James Stadium. Raymond James Stadium is home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it was all about the USF Bulls tonight! The last time Fans Favorite Fan was here in Tampa at the “Ray Jay” was back in January for the College Football Playoffs National Championship when Clemson beat Alabama. The atmosphere was not the same here tonight, but you could tell that fans were enjoying the festivities outside the stadium. Walking near the tailgating area you saw lavish tv screens, plenty of fans playing corn hole and kids playing in the snow. Yes I said “snow” here in the South Florida. I shared this on our IG stories and other sports fans messaged us all night about that tent, LOL!
This shows me that the USF Athletic Department thinks outside of the box when creating a game day experience for their fans. Once I got inside the stadium it was time to prep for kickoff. You could see South Florida’s quarterback Quinton Flowers throwing bombs to his wide receivers (warming up his arm) and the gold helmets that the Bulls wore tonight were so shiny. USF students in attendance were reminded to download the Herd Perks App so that they could gain points towards sharing their fan experience throughout the game. The game was entertaining. I knew coming into this that USF plays a quick tempo game and I remember how they played last year against South Carolina Gamecocks in the Birmingham Bowl.

Temple was unsuccessful! It looked as if Temple left half of the team back in Philly and it was pretty frustrating to watch at times. Temple’s QB Logan Marchi looked like a known NFL quarterback (I’m not going to say no names) throwing interceptions whenever he felt like it. It was just hard for the Owls to figure out a rhythm to shift the momentum their way. One play that still shocks me is when Temple faked a punt then Logan was sacked immediately. It was definitely a “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?” moment. It just wasn’t the night for the Owls and the Bulls shined as bright as their golden helmets. (I really loved USF gold helmets, LOL) Special guest WWE Titus O’Neil was in the stadium show the Bulls some loves as well as recruits from

The weather was perfect for a thursday night college football game in South Florida. At the post game press conference, when asked about South Florida’s senior leadership on defense Head Coach Charlie Strong stated that, “Defense is all about disruption. Disrupt the rhythm of the offense. We made up in our mind to put some pressure on the quarterback.” Both of Temple’s quarterbacks felt that pressure and Coach Strong ended his reply about their defense saying, “They have a chance to set the standard on defense now that anyone that follows you they’re going to have to step up and play to that standard”. Well one of Temple’s hashtags that they are using this season is #theStandard and I think Coach Strong just leveled up the expectation in the American Athletic Conference tonight. South Florida beat Temple in front of 24, 325 fans! How about that standard?
