Copa America 2015 got underway in Chile and the host nation defeated Ecuador 2-0 in Santiago. The match was deadlocked in a scoreless draw until midfielder Arturo Vidal drew a penalty in the 67th minute. Vidal was fouled by Ecuador forward Miller Bolanos. Seconds later, Vidal converted on his penalty-kick and gave the Chileans a 1-0 lead.
