The Atlanta Hawks came up big with some late scoring from Jeff Teague, Al Horford, and Paul Millsap to defeats the Oklahoma City Thunder 106-100 on Monday Night at Phillips Arena.
Monday’s game started out really good for the Hawks, as the team started with an 8-2 run. Atlanta was dominated for the first half of the game. The Hawks shot about 57% from the floor after the first quarter and held the Thunder to only 8 for22 shooting. Oklahoma City did comeback to close the half on an 18-3 run. The Hawks led at halftime by one.
The Hawks did not disappoint the fans for the halftime show. Hawks “Put On” for Atlanta, with a performance by Atlanta rapper, Young Jeezy, who also performed during the Sprite postgame concert. Jeezy perform classic hits at halftime such as “Put On”, “Soul Survivor”, and “Lose My Mind”.
Atlanta came out on fire in the third quarter led by Jeff Teague pushing the lead to double digits over the Oklahoma City. The Thunder would battle back, but the Hawks did not give up the lead in the third quarter. However, Oklahoma City would go an 8-0 run to tie the game with 3:53 left.
Teague would answer back with a shot and Paul Millsap would connect on two free throws, but the Thunder was not going away quietly. The game was tied at 96-96. A block by Millsap and a basket by Teague gave the Hawks the lead again. Atlanta extend the lead with another basket by Teague. Atlanta converted late free throws by Teague and Al Horford to secure the win. From there it was a raucous crowd would celebrate with a post-game concert from Jeezy.
