Size vs Strength vs Speed – A bit lean at this stage, but plays much bigger than listed weight. Has room to fill out frame in the future. Show’s good playing speed, and shows good pop when engaging offensive lineman. Extremely Athletic for his size.

Verses Run – Even though he is somewhat lean, shows great strength, and determination to disengage the o-lineman. He uses great leverage and his hands. He holds his ground even when being blocked by much bigger lineman, added weight and strength will help ease transition to college, could be overwhelmed with double teams in future at current weight.

Pass Rush – Shows very natural pass rushing skills. Uses his length well, along with a good first step. Bends very well for height, sometimes even looks short on film because of that. Hands can be violent at times, very active. Doesn’t show much of a counter, but at this level hasn’t needed one. He uses low pad-level to get under defenders and shed them.

Bottom Line – I love his effort and length. Shows tenacity and desire to find the ball. Even though he played along the same line as the #1 DT from 2014 class, was able to separate himself. Needs to keep spending time in weight room and filling out his frame. Will be much more of a household name by the time his senior season has finished. Has room to grow, but the raw tools are there to be a successful DE at college level.

Current News: Josh has 44 offers with no favorites at this time.  He is being called the second coming of Jadeveon Clowney with his freak athleticism. This was  on full display at The Opening recently.  He ran a 4.46 40, and recorded a 39 inch vertical at Nike Headquarters, all this despite nursing a hip flexor injury. I predict he’ll will stay in-state favoring Virginia Tech at this time.
