Many NBA players talk about trying new things to raise their game. However, many NBA players have adopted the plant-based diet. Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard has gone vegan and lost ten pounds. New York Knicks forward/center Enes Kanter has cut the amount of Turkish food he’s eating and he’s lost several pounds. Finally, Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics announced before the season he’s adopted the Vegan lifestyle.
“This season I’ve been on more of a plant-based diet, getting away from all the animals and all that. I had to get away from that,” Irving told ESPN October 11, 2017. “So my energy is up, my body feels amazing. Just understanding what the diet is like for me and what’s beneficial for me for having the highest energy out here and being able to sustain it at a very high level.”
Kyrie’s Celtics traveled to Atlanta Monday and defeated the Hawks 110-107 with Irving leading the C’s with 35 points. After the game, a reporter asked him about the benefits of the Vegan lifestyle.
