The Mississippi State Bulldogs have lost freshman Mario Kegler and Eli Wright to transfer. This has to be disappointing for the program as both players were highly touted coming out of high school. Both 4 star prospects were expected to have a major impact on Mississippi States basketball program.
Wright never got to make much of an impact for the Bulldogs this past season but Kegler became an integral part of the team. Kegler was the Bulldogs third leading scorer with an average of 9.7 PPG. Those aren’t eye popping numbers but still impressive for a freshman. It is unclear where Kegler intends to transfer to at this point but he certainly will have plenty of suitors. Unfortunately for Kegler and Wright they will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer regulations. Considering that this is the second consecutive year Mississippi State has lost a top rated player to transfer the state of the Bulldogs basketball program appears to be in doubt.
