Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Bulls officially fired Tom Thibodeau as head coach after weeks of speculations of the news hitting the media. Bulls GM Gar Forman says, “We want to thank Tom for all the contributions he made to the Bulls’ organization.” Joakim Noah also spoke about the firing of coach Thibodeau, Noah says, “I want to thank Thibs for all the work he put in. I wish him nothing but the best.”
The Bulls are already eyeing their next potential head coach for next season. A source tells the Chicago Tribune that Fred Hoiberg, head coach of the Iowa State Cyclones, is the leading candidate to replace Thibodeau. In April, Hoiberg tells a five-star recruit, Cheick Diallo that his future with the Cyclones wasn’t certain and he also communicated to a source that he could not fully commit to returning to Iowa State.
